Wood Types

Wood is a versatile material used in numerous applications, from building construction to furniture making. There are many types of wood available, each with its own unique properties and characteristics. Softwoods are typically light and easy to work with, while hardwoods are more dense and difficult to shape. Plywood is made by gluing layers of wood together, making it stronger than solid woods. Balsa wood is lightweight and often used for model airplanes or toys. Particleboard is a composite material made from sawdust or other particles of wood that has been glued together under pressure. Veneer is a thin layer of wood applied over another surface, often to give the appearance of solid wood without the expense or weight associated with it. Each type of wood can be used in different ways depending on the desired result.
